Student engagement

There is no question in my mind that concept mapping is critical thinking in an active, applicable form. Through use of this wonderful learning tool students become engaged. As a diagrammatic mirror of thought processes used in clinical judgement and critical thinking, the benefits gained are:
  • the ability to assess critical thinking movement along a learning continuum
  • instant reflection of critical thinking
  • insight into learning

And these are just a few! The following photos are from a brainstorming campus clinical for sophomore nursing students. Each group of students created their own maps. They did such a fantastic job!

My life's passion has always been nursing. That has grown into a passion for becoming a mentor of nursing wisdom and sparking that passion in others.
